As a crafter who for many years did a lot of scrapbooking, card making and I do a lot of projects involving stamping, I have a real love for good quality card stock and this set of recipe cards definitely fits the bill.The card stock is heavy enough that I know it will last for a long time, especially if I keep it in clear page protectors and use acid and eally appreciate that there is an ample room between the front and the back to list all of my ingredients and direction.My husband passed away on March 22, 2024. I have two kids who are grown. Both are in their mid to late 30s. While they were growing up for somewhere between 15 to 20 years, I did all the cooking. My husband would occasionally pitch in but for the most part, it was me. I was not a good cook and I did not enjoy it. I started having issues with chronic pain due to degenerative disc disease and little by little my husband who actually did enjoy cooking took over.Before he passed away, I was always watching cooking videos. We had gotten into a real rut when it came to meals and I would look for new things for us to try. I think they were times on my husband wished I wouldn’t because I was always coming up to him saying honey can you make this But he was wonderful about it. I learned from looking at all these recipes and watching YouTube videos that the reason I wasn’t a great cook is because I did not know how to properly season food. When he passed away. I had to start cooking for myself if I wanted to have Quality meals. I think the reason I didn’t enjoy it like many women is because of the hectic lifestyles we live. I was working anywhere from 40 to 60 hours a week, taking care of the house and doing the grocery shopping. I also had a lot of personal things going on.To my surprise when my husband passed away because I no longer work, I found that I enjoy cooking very much. My skills have improved so much that I’ve started a small business preparing meals for families in my area. I don’t have a big client list and I only have a few dishes that I’ve perfected, but I’ve created several recipes on my own and that is why I ordered these recipe cards. I was always chatting everything down rather slowly on index cards. Recently, I ordered a recipe box and while it came with the recipe cards, there was definitely room to add more and the cards that came with. It are the same size as these cards. These cards are much higher in quality. I love their simplistic design and the fact that you get so many of them. If you have someone in your life who likes to cook and keep track of their recipes this would be a very lovely gift. You can see in my photos that it comes in a nice Box, which makes it optimal for gifting.I do not know if these cards are acid and lignin free. I plan to use writing instruments tat are both. Archival quality writing instruments matter to me whether it applies to paper or writing instruments. Because I don’t know if the papers of archival quality although I suspect it is, I plan to use writing instruments that are and to keep them away from sunlight. I want to be able to pass my recipes down to my children and grandchildren. These cards are a big part of that plan.
