I’m trying to cook more at home, instead of relying on fast food/takeout. And I’ve accumulated quite a few cookbooks to try out. I occasionally look at recipes on my phone, but it’s a huge hassle trying to read something on the screen, either it’s too small and I have to zoom, or the screen goes to sleep while I’m in the middle of an important step. So, I’ve been relying on the physical cookbooks more, but then I need to find a good spot for it, where it won’t get wet or messy.This thing is a great solution for my cooking issues. It looks like a cutting board, which is cute. The conversion chart on it is pretty handy as well. Text is mostly easy to read, there are a few darker spots of wood that aren’t as clear. And the bar to hold the pages flat is great, even though the book in the picture is spiral-bound, I have quite a few that are bound like a normal book.I took off one star for not including direction on how to use the little red-backed strips that came with it. I figured out after a bit that they keep it from sliding around, or they are supposed to, but I can’t get them to stick very well, and the backing tape was difficult to remove, a little overhang would be nice. Also, the kickstand (or whatever you call the leg that props it up) arrived a little splintered on one side (see third pic), not enough to be super noticeable, but enough that I ended up having to use tweezers on my finger while testing this thing out. :(Overall, this would be a nice gift for the chef/baker in your life, it’s very cute and functional. Just watch the edges. And try the Fudge sheet cake recipe in the second pic (although I sub butter for the oleo), it’s worth the calories.
