Company Oil Pump Pickup, Press/Bolt-On, 3/4 in Inlet Tube, 8-1/4 in Deep Pan, compatible with Big Block Chevy, Each

I gave it 4 stars because it’s well made and will do what it’s supposed to do (with a standard pump), but in all the squishy crap covered in the product description, it says nothing about pump compatibility. Like already stated if you’re using a high volume pump the mounting bracket doesn’t line up. You’re going to have to tweak it to fit. Also the pickup tube enters the side of its screened box and goes in too far for a high volume pump (my opinion). The opening of the pickup tube is about 5/16″ from the side of its screened box. This is where I’m thankful I know how to weld. Since this is the pickup that fits my new RPC oil pan, and I’ve tried 3 other HV pickups (that were not compatible). It was time to MacQyver this thing. I cut the mounting bracket and screen box off, trimmed the tube down so it’s now 1″ from the side. I rotated the screened box just a bit to get 3/8 clearance from the bottom of my oil pan and repositioned the bracket and welded everything back up (boo ya!). Dinked the pretty yellow plating, but it’s not necessary since the whole pump sees a lot of oil during engine operation. Not what I wanted to do with everything else I have going on, but I’m just glad I can mark one more task off my list.
