A tank vent is supposed to do two things. It’s supposed to prevent a vacuum from being able to build up inside the fuel tank and it’s supposed to hold positive pressure of the fuel tank. Two cycle engines use a diaphragm carburetor which is a fairly poor pumping mechanism for fuel especially when you’re moving the engine around. The positive tank pressure greatly assists the uptake of fuel by the carburetor. Many breathers you’ll find are not holding tank pressure and you wind up with stalls or quitting about halfway your yard work as the fuel tank slowly empty and it becomes harder and harder to pump fuel.I tested every single one of these units with a vacuum and a positive pressure source and they all passed. This is not been my experience with other lots of tank vents from other distributors. So I can tell you these actually work correctly. That being said please note that my positive pressure tester only goes up to 15 psi but at maximum 15 psi these do not vent. If you have an engine where the the tank is expected to vent at some pressure to prevent overpressure, these don’t do that.
